Sulcata Tortoise
Centrochelys sulcata

🌍 Overview
The sulcata tortoise — also known as the African spurred tortoise — is the third-largest tortoise species on Earth. Native to the Sahara desert's southern fringe (the Sahel), they survive brutal conditions by digging burrows up to 10 feet deep to escape heat. A hatchling the size of a ping-pong ball will grow to potentially exceed 100 lbs — a commitment that must be made with full awareness of their adult size and 70–150+ year potential lifespan.

🤩 Fun Facts
🐱 Headbutt Means Love
When your cat headbutts you, it's called 'bunting' and it means they love and trust you! They have scent glands on their forehead, and bunting is their way of marking you as 'theirs.'
🐱 Meow is Just for Us
Cats only meow at humans, not at other cats. They invented the meow specifically to communicate with people, and each cat develops its own unique vocabulary.
🐱 Healing Purr
A cat's purr vibrates at 25 to 150 Hz, a frequency known to promote bone healing and reduce stress, for both the cat and the human nearby!
