🤓 Did you know? Green iguanas have a pale scale on the top of the head called the parietal eye. It is a genuine third eye with a lens and a retina, wired to the pineal gland rather than to vision, and it detects shadow moving overhead. It is an early warning system for birds of prey.

- Thermal burns from a heat source the iguana can contact directly
- Substrate impaction
Always see a vet for metabolic bone disease and kidney disease: advanced cases need immediate, long-term treatment. Mouth rot, respiratory infection, and skin or fungal infections need professional treatment rather than home correction alone. Egg binding is always an emergency, get to a vet immediately if you suspect it.
